Winter's Mirror

from $35.00

For ten minutes, I had been watching this fox hunt along the bank of a stream adjacent to Norris meadows, completely in awe of its graceful efficiency. It moved through the snow with a quiet focus, a brilliant splash of orange against the winter white. Suddenly, it dropped down from the snowy bank to the water's edge and began heading in my direction. As it drew closer, my focus shifted, and a single, clear thought took over: I had to get the reflection.

The resulting photograph captures that very moment. The fox, poised in a careful stride, looks down into the water, its form almost perfectly duplicated in the stream's still, dark surface. The image is a study in symmetry and contrast, placing the warm, vibrant fur and bright snow against the cold, clear water. The crystalline edges of the ice-lined bank frame the scene, highlighting the animal's interaction with the different elements of its environment.

A signature piece from the "Winter's Sovereigns" chapter of "The Frozen Kingdom" collection, this print is a quiet meditation on form, reflection, and a moment of fortunate alignment.

Print & Medium

This photograph is defined by the relationship between its three primary elements: the vibrant, textured fur of the fox, the bright, delicate snow, and the dark, glassy water. To honor all three, my premium paper choice is Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta Satin. This paper has a subtle, satin-lustre finish that will accomplish two things perfectly: it will enrich the deep, dark tones of the water, giving it a true liquid quality, and it will make the warm oranges of the fox's coat vibrant against the white snow, all while preserving the finest details.

"Winter's Mirror" is offered in sizes up to 24x30 inches. Please contact me directly for custom sizes, framing, or other medium requests.
