Silent Intensity

from $35.00

This photograph was a lesson in patience, luck, and fighting for the shot. We were out of time on our safari, and while I had seen evidence of leopards, a kill even, I had not caught even a glimpse of the animal itself. We were on our way out when our guide picked up something on the radio. There was a chance.

When we got there, the scene was chaos. The leopard was there, but she was surrounded on three sides, almost mobbed by safari vehicles. We had two other jeeps directly in front of us, completely blocking the view. I was literally telling our driver, "Two inches forward... no, that was too much..." until I had a single, clear angle through the windows.

In that moment, despite the noise and the jeeps, the world just... stopped. All that existed was that gaze.

"Silent Intensity" is the only way to describe the photograph from that heart-stopping, hard-won moment. Shortly after I got the shot, she came out into the open and was gone. This print is a portrait of pure, focused power, a quiet stare from the middle of a frantic world.

A signature piece from the "Reign of Predators" chapter of the "Africa's Primal Grace" collection, this print is a mesmerizing portrait of a famously elusive hunter.

Print & Medium

To fully capture the intimate, profound connection of this portrait, my choice for this print is the Hahnemühle Photo Rag. This is a museum-grade, 100% cotton paper with a subtle, fine-toothed matte surface. This non-reflective finish is essential: it draws you directly into the leopard's gaze without any distracting glare. It renders the soft, dappled light with a painterly feel and gives the entire image a stunning, tactile depth.

This print is available in sizes up to 24x30 inches. Please contact me directly for custom sizes, framing, or other medium requests.
