Moss and Flow

from $35.00

This photograph is as much about the feeling as it is the sight. It was a beautiful summer morning on Gatlinburg's Roaring Fork, and to get this intimate, low-angle shot, I was standing barefoot in the cool, rushing water. It’s that exact feeling I wanted to capture: the immersion, the contrast of the cool stream on a warm day, and the incredible, almost electric green of the moss that you can only truly appreciate when you’re right in the middle of it.

Silky, white water, smoothed by a long exposure, weaves and flows around a cluster of boulders, each one covered in a thick, vibrant carpet of green moss. The composition is intimate, pulling the viewer down to the water's level. It’s a rich, tactile study of opposing forces—the ancient stillness of the rocks and the constant, gentle energy of the stream.

A signature piece from the "Mountain Moods" gallery, this photograph celebrates the lush, hidden worlds found within the Smoky Mountain streams.

Print & Medium:

The power of this image comes from the intense, saturated color of the moss and the 'wet' look of the scene. To make these elements feel alive, my choice for this print is the Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta Satin. This museum-grade paper has an elegant, soft satin finish that is essential for 'wet' scenes. It will render that vibrant, electric green with the deep saturation it deserves and give the silky, flowing water a beautiful, luminous glow. A matte paper would make this scene look dull and dry; the Baryta Satin makes it feel immediate and alive.

"Moss and Flow" is available in sizes up to 24x30 inches. Please contact me directly for custom sizes, framing, or other medium requests.
