We were at Lake Nakuru, watching a whole troop of baboons (that's what the group is called) relaxing in the sun. It was a peaceful family scene until this moment.

I saw this older juvenile suddenly decide he wanted the rock the younger one was sitting on. He came up, challenging the little one, clearly trying to claim the spot for himself. But the younger one, to my surprise, stood his ground.

"King of the Rock" is a snapshot of that squabble. It was a tiny, relatable drama, a power play that unfolded in seconds. I’m sure they were cousins, but the entire interaction reminded me so much of brothers.
