I’ve seen Cattle Egrets hundreds of time in the US, but seeing them at Lake Nakuru, in their native habitat, was a revelation. This is what they were meant to do—to partner not just with livestock, but with their "real cattle": the massive, formidable Cape Buffalo.

I was captivated by this scene. The massive, mud-caked horn of the buffalo, a symbol of pure, raw power, served as a delicate perch for the elegant, snow-white egret.
