After the Kill

from $35.00

When we found the kill, the first thing that struck me was the surreal quiet of the scene, punctuated only by the visceral sounds of the pride feeding. It was a raw, unfiltered 'circle of life' moment, and I felt truly honored to be able to capture it.

At first, I could only clearly see this lioness and a beautiful male. But my focus was drawn immediately to her. The profound intensity in her face was mesmerizing. She was bloodied from the kill, but her golden eyes were absolutely clear, focused, and unflinching.

After a few minutes, the moment shifted. The lionesses decided to leave. Before I knew it, a group of five was already far down the path, leaving the male behind.

"After the Kill" is an honest photograph of survival. There is no glamour in it, only the powerful, profound reality of the wild.

A signature piece from the "Reign of Predators" chapter of the "Africa's Primal Grace" collection, this print is a powerful and honest portrait of survival.

Print & Medium

To properly honor the raw, profound nature of this image, my choice for this print is the Hahnemühle Photo Rag. This is a museum-grade, 100% cotton paper with a subtle, fine-toothed matte surface. A glossy paper would feel inappropriate and sensational. This non-reflective, painterly finish is essential: it draws you directly into the lioness's intense, golden gaze without any distracting glare, treating the visceral, powerful scene with the gravity it deserves.

This print is available in sizes up to 24x30 inches. Please contact me directly for custom sizes, framing, or other medium requests.
