More Than Pixels

Launching Danielle.photos

Wish You Were Here - Taken on Route 66 trip with my dad.

Seeing the Wigwam Motel materialize on Route 66 felt like driving straight into a postcard from the past. Capturing that slice of Americana, that tangible piece of history, is exactly why I love photography. And moments like these, collected over years but especially crystallized during my recent journey down the entire Mother Road, are why I'm finally launching this website.

Why now? For years, creating a dedicated space to share my photography and the stories behind the images has been a goal simmering on the back burner. But several things recently came together to turn "someday" into "today."

Firstly, the Route 66 trip itself. It was an incredible journey shared with my dad, but it was also creatively fulfilling. My goal for any photo trip is always ambitious: "take enough pictures that I have to clear more wall space." Going through the photos from this trip, curating the collection and reliving the moments, finally gave me the push I needed. The collection felt ready.

Secondly, there's a conversation happening right now about the future of art in the age of AI. As artificial intelligence gets better at generating images, I feel an increasing urgency to celebrate and share authentic photography – the kind that comes from a real person, standing in a real place, capturing a fleeting moment of light and emotion.

For me, especially living with aphantasia where my camera truly serves as my memory, the story behind the image, the human element, is just as important as the picture itself.

This website is my place to share both.

So, this is it. Danielle.photos is the culmination of a long-held dream, spurred on by a fulfilling creative project, and fueled by a passion for preserving real moments and their stories. It's a space to find light, create wonder, and hopefully, share a bit of that tangible magic with you.

Thank you for being here at the beginning. I invite you to start exploring with the collection that started it all.
